I took the beginning of a song I started writing last summer on an out of tune ukelele (which I don't play) and finally finished it. To keep in the spirit of the 4 string uke, I gave myself the rule that I could only use my thumbs and pinkies (for a max of 4 notes). This is (the very rough, just finished version of) what came out.
Lyrics:
Home, she's going home
Oh, home, she's going home.
Home to the dogwood groves,
home where the wind still blows,
where he rests his head
only children know
Home, she's going home.
City streets kept on stealing,
city nights kept on breathing down her neck.
So she's leaving,
chasing the echoes
of silent nights
I hope she finds the feeling
that she's lost,
and it's worth leaving us behind.
Home, she's going home.
