RuPaul's Drag Race has reached its fourth season, and promises to crank up the drama. 13 drag queens compete to become America's Next Drag Superstar. Who will walk away with the title, the crown, and 100,000 dollars? It all started on January 30, and this video is all about the beginning! The beginning of a new drag dimension.
Episode one starts with the contestants entering the work room, one at a time to size their competition. Their first challenge is to strike a pose as Mike Ruiz, a famous photographer, snaps some high fashion shots. The girls have to model a white oversized dress while being shot with "post- apocalypitc acid" by the drag race pit crew, while rotating on a moving platform. Jiggly Caliente wins, and has the prize of RuPaul tweeting the winning photo with caption #RuPocalypse. The other contestants disagreed with the decision after viewing their own pictures
Next, the 13 queens venture out to an abandoned motel where they are confronted by Drag Queen Zombies portrayed by former contestants. Their mission is to gather as many materials from off the intimidating characters as possible in order to prepare their look for judging. To help them with their outfits, their is a large crate prop in the work room filled with different materials.
In the workroom, after fighting off the other girls for their potential costume, they quickly begin to assemble their garments. Several of the contestants struggled to find inspiration for their look, and the stress increased even higher after their mentor RuPaul gave his thoughts on how their work was progressing.
On the runway the ladies gave their best post apocalyptic drag looks. Sharon Needles was the ruler of the runway after impressing Elvira and the other judges with her dramatic look, including fake blood coming from her mouth and white out contact lenses. The Princess and Lashauwn Beyond also recieved high praise from the judges, but did not compare to Needles. The bottom three of the week consisted of Jiggly Caliente, Alisa Summers, and Kenya Michaels. Kenya was safe with her firebird inspired look, and the other two were left to lip synch for their place on the show. Even though Jiggly had the worst costume on the stage, she blamed it on her inability to sew, but had won the challenge earlier in the week and gave a great performance on the main stage. Alisa Summers, sadly fell short with her lack of energy, and was sent home.
