Sacred

This is my reading of a poem I wrote: Sacred Tell me is this alright? Should I change my ways to fit your ideal? You wanted to know, just what my heart, my soul, how I feel, Should I stand by and watch, while the world falls into despair? Should I smarten up, realize one person has no bearing to all, I see them hate, I see them cry, I see them bruised, I see them die, Love, I want to show the world, I want to show them all just why, No one is anything but a being, a human, a person to acknowledge, We build this structure of hope, believe that it will be the very bridge, Take the hand of your brothers, your sisters, Embrace the universal of human existence, We are like a rainbow, colors abound, flavors of life and culture, Different from others, yet always fundamentally the same, Why hate the differences, why hurt others, why even alter? Every being is beautiful, every flower fragrant, souls aflame, We are all sacred. If God touched his hands on this world, he did so for all of us, Crafting every beautiful feature, coloring every pigment and callous, Surely, he made us diverse for the joy of excitement, for love, He made every man, woman, child, cat, dog, lizard, and dove, How can I teach them, how can one person help everything change? I am but a nothing, the bottom of the barrel, one of the very strange, But inside even my soul, there is love, there is hope, there is compassion, Yearning to show the way to freedom for everyone, yearning for action, Take the hand of your brothers, your sisters, Embrace the universal of human existence, We are like a rainbow, colors abound, flavors of life and culture, Different from others, yet always fundamentally the same, Why hate the differences, why hurt others, why even alter? Every being is beautiful, every flower fragrant, souls aflame, We are all sacred. When you are standing on the top of this world, when you are powerful, Remember this message, remember this cause, don't forget your kin, You can bridge the gap between the greedy and the destitute, And even if you're at the bottom, nothing will change if you don't try, So, Take the hand of your brothers, your sisters, Embrace the universal of human existence, For we are all the sacred.
