Team Members: Thomas, Nick, Mohammad, Alex Time Task Completed: 30 seconds (3rd place) - including faults & bonuses Challenge: The robot starts in Square 1 and finishes in Square 1, visiting (eg. vacuuming) each square at least once. • The robot must alternate visiting at least two odd-numbered squares in a row followed by two even-numbered squares for the duration of the task. • The robot must noticeably pause in each square, with all parts of the robot touching the grid within the lines of the square. Pieces that overhang, but are off of the grid are allowable. Pauses and whether the robot is within the grid square is solely at the discretion of the judge. • The robot cannot touch any part of Squares 6 or 10, definitely not knocking the balls within the grids from the perches. Faults (Time added at the end) • 2 seconds for each grid square that does not exhibit a noticeable pause or for which not all of the robot is within the square. • 2 seconds for each time the "2 odd square - 2 even square" pattern is not adhered to. • 2 seconds for each time any part of the robot crosses the space of Squares 6 or 10. • 5 seconds for knocking either of the balls in Squares 6 or 10 from their perches. Bonus (Time subtracted at the end) • 5 seconds for incorporating a sensor other than the motor sensors into this task in a meaningful way. (It actually does something to help complete the task.)
