Security Now - Google Privacy Policy Clip

Leo Laporte and Steve Gibson of the always excellent Security Now podcast (twit.tv discussed Google's privacy policy changes in an interesting exchange on the February 1st episode. The position Leo takes is factually accurate-- the information that Google is collecting has not materially changed, nor have their privacy controls changed. They have simply consolidated their privacy policy for greater consistency, and announced that they will collate the data they collect across sites. This is one of the better discussions we've seen, but PrivacyCast believes Leo is undervaluing the newfound extent to which Google can track you across their multiple Web sites (many of whom the common consumer does not know are Google owned or affiliated.) That said, we think Leo is correct that Google deserves praise for the level of transparency they provide to users on the information that they collect, and the tools they provide to control it. The problem is (much like Facebook) the tools are so complicated that it's difficult for a typical user to make use of them. Also, everyone interested in online privacy should heed Leo's warning: There is already someone who knows far more about you than Google does: your ISP... and they tend to be far less transparent about the information they collect, and how it is used. Give Me Back My Wig

Here's the great tune straight off my record. Talking about hot! It's one of those live recordings that makes you wish you were there. I bought this record used in '11 for two bucks at a vintage record store! Unfortunately, I move around a little to play with my practice space visually during the video recording and the sound quality changes a little, but not bad. It's all routed through a vintage Peavey MP4 PA head with a little reverb and comes through an EVM 12" speaker mounted in a little Peavey 112 monitor. (not that anyone probably cares) I 'host' a little "Dig It" with Cole Raynes (an acoustic trio) on our Facebook page. I put the music that influences us on there. Check it out and maybe you can dig it with Cole Raynes too.
