May 21, 2012 A torrential downpour stranded this mysterious creature. Nightfall and cold temperatures would be coming soon, so I swooped. After a thorough rinse of mud and silt I was beginning to see the makings of a bird and a very handsome bird at that! It wasn't until the following morning, (My birthday) and after the Towhee Family Reunion that Sandy, with the help of her trusty bird watcher's field guide, identified our new friend as "pipilo maculatus oregonus" The Oregon Speckled Towhee.This rescue wouldn't of been possible without the help of Sandy (books), Sean (worms), Max Imapuppydog (organic dog food) & Don (EMT)
