Alright, so I guess it's time for an update. This video was taken almost three years ago - I will be turning sixteen this year. I was thirteen at the time of this video - not 8 - despite popular belief. If y'all have any special requests as to what information I should put in this little description box thing, just let me know, because I don't know what things y'all want to know. ~ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ~ Q1: How old were you when you got your nose pierced? A1: I was thirteen. Q2: Where did you get it done? A2: I got it done at a tattoo parlor in Ontario, Canada. The exact location is pretty irrelevant. Q3: Why was the woman wearing a mask!? Q3: She told me that she had a cold at the time of my piercing, and, to be hygienic, she wore a mask so nothing would spread. It was just for precautionary measures. Q4: Why did you get your nose pierced at a dentist's office?! A4: See Question 2. Q5: You're so firm on the idea that this didn't hurt... So why did you say "ow" and flinch when you got it done? A5: That was instinct. To be honest, when I was going in to get my piercing, I was convinced that it would hurt so badly... But it really didn't. It was a sharp pinch and nothing more. Q6: So, it didn't hurt? A6: Everyone has a different level of pain tolerance, but mine is quite high, so it hurt - I'd say - 4 out of 10. Q7: How did you convince your parents to let you get it done at such a young age? A7: To be honest, I had known for quite some time that I wanted to get my ...
ORADELL, NJ -- A former Rutgers University student who used a webcam to spy on his gay roommate was sentenced Monday to just 30 days in jail - a punishment that disappointed some activists but came as a relief to others who feared he would be made a scapegoat for his fellow freshman's suicide. Dharun Ravi, 20, could have gotten 10 years behind bars for his part in a case that burst onto the front pages after Tyler Clementi threw himself to his death off the George Washington Bridge. Instead, Superior Court Judge Glenn Berman gave Ravi a month in jail, placed him on three years' probation and ordered him to get counseling and pay $10000 toward a program to help victims of hate crimes. Related Content More: Contact the WABC-TV New Jersey Bureau "Our society has every right to expect zero tolerance for intolerance," the judge said. The tear-filled sentencing touched on many of the issues that made the case heart-wrenching and legally complicated: anti-gay bullying, teen suicide, hate-crime laws in the fast-changing Internet age, and the uses and abuses of technology in the hands of young people. Ravi did not speak in court but shed tears as his mother pleaded with the judge not to send him to prison. Afterward, Ravi, his family and his lawyers left court without comment. He is expected to appeal his conviction. In handing down the sentence, the judge quoted an email from Clementi himself describing Ravi's conduct as "wildly inappropriate.'" At the same time, Berman pointed ...

SINGAPORE: A new study has placed National Service (NS) as a key indicator of integration for foreigners. The report by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) seeks to examine what immigrants ought to do in order to be regarded as a full participating member of Singapore society. The study covered some 2000 local and foreign born citizens. Half of the new citizens got their citizenship just 10 years ago or earlier. They were asked several questions on what they thought were social markers of integration. Such as - should a new citizen be gainfully employed, complete NS or be married to a local - to be seen as a Singaporean? The study showed some perceptual gaps, which researchers said are cause for fault-lines within the community. The biggest area of incongruence - that the son of a new citizen undergoes NS. About 70 per cent of Singaporeans feel it is an important indicator of integration, while only about 40 per cent of new citizens think so. IPS said about a third of them choose not to do so. Research Fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies, Dr Leong Chan-Hoong, said: "Of course, there are consequences to the NS-liable Permanent Resident who skip NS. "So for example, they won't be granted a work visa or be considered for a permanent residency application again in the future. "But the hard truth is that while they are a PR in Singapore, they would have enjoyed all the benefit, all the privileges of being a PR and then when it comes to the time for them to perform ...
