World's financial crisis hardly affecting Iran Finance Minister.

One could easily get a sense of dread listening to Nobel-prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday -- as he put a button on the state of European-American financial markets. Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance Seyed Shamseddin Hoseini was in attendance and listening closely -- as Stiglitz renewed his call for stronger regulation of world financial markets. The Islamic Republic's economy is in very good shape -- comparatively -- and Hoseini told Press TV that responsible regulation is a key reason. Hosseini adds that as a result -- Iran's vulnerability and exposure in shaky markets were very limited when they collapsed -- so the damage Iran suffered was minimal. Derivatives based on home and mortgage loans are widely blamed for the global economic meltdown. So why is Minister Hoseini in New York? He simply wants to call for more diversity and integrity in world markets. He also advocates a return to the idea that a financial market should be the reflection of an economy based in industry and resources -- not an end unto itself. Though Iran has gone through some inflation of late -- and remains under heavy Western sanctions -- its economy remains sound. Hoseini says that's because it's not built on smoke and mirrors. Iran is also rich in energy resources and natural resources and is centrally located for trading across the Asian / Middle Eastern world. Hoseini calls those resources one of the strongest attributes of any economy.

Al Jazeera has obtained the mobile phone wiretaps of Al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi, Muammar Gaddafi's prime minister and a loyal ally to the Libyan leader almost to the end. In September, al-Mahmoudi publicly recognised the new rulers of Libya but was arrested in Tunisia soon afterwards on charges of entering the country illegally. Charges against him were subsequently dropped but he remains in prison in Tunis, which has refused to extradite him to Libya. Al-Baghdadi is the most senior member of Gaddafi's regime in custody and, in the absence of others, he will be expected to answer many questions that remain about the final days of the former regime. Al Jazeera's Hoda Abdel Hamid reports from Tripoli.

Marks Tey Station (18-5-12)

On a warm friday evening during the peak, I went to Marks Tey station to see the GE trains at speed. 20 trains per hour usually pass this station during 18:30 and 19:30, so that's what I was waiting for... However, 1P52 (17:50 LST - NRW) failed between Ilford and Seven Kings, which delayed northbound trains by up to 45 minutes (This video doesn't include the disruptive period).
