Using an Arduino, and Processing - I have re-vamped the light-sensor demo program to demonstrate how to: 1: Use double-buffering for smooth graphics. 2: Pass multiple values through the serial link much quicker than ASCII, by using big-endian byte pairs. 3: Automatic calibration of the LDR by readjusting to the maximum and minimum known light levels. 4: A mechanism for knowing when the Arduino is reset.
